About Diploma In Agriculture (level 5) in Southern Institute of Technology

This course provides students with knowledge and appreciation of pasture and crop production and management; animal production, health and management; soil management; farm engineering and mechanisation; financial; business and marketing management; communication skills and personnel management.

This diploma is available full-time and is ideal for students who want to further their knowledge and agriculture career. This programme offers a pathway to either degree level study or management opportunities. In addition, it allows students to take advantage of new technological developments and farming ventures.

The diploma in agriculture has eight papers that are designed to provide students with knowledge and appreciation of pasture and crop production and management; animal production, health and management; soil management; farm engineering and mechanisation; financial; business and marketing management; communication skills and personnel management. This is done through an integration of practical training with theoretical knowledge, and presentation of reports based on farm operations.

Students will develop knowledge, skills and attitude to manage farms in a changing social, economic and technological environment. They can be found on farms, in rural-support industries and pursuing further education.
